take me seriously

Oil on Canvas 20"x20", 2022

Description

This work was developed using photography and gel lighting to get a haunting effect on the subject. Then, translated to a canvas through the use of oil paints and florescent pigment.

I found that there were no oil paints on the market that glowed with the true florescence that I needed to make my vision come to life, so I found my own way to make the paints. I was able to achieve this by mixing florescent pigment and linseed oil to bind the pigment. This required many many layers of paint to reach true vibrancy and opacity - also known as a glazing technique.

This resulted in a painting that truly glows and haunts the viewer. No, seriously, it really does glow under black light - which was another interesting find that I incorporated into my later paintings.
